Denim Day NYC 2020 Virtual Rally

During this period of uncertainty, social distancing, and sheltering-in-place, the Denim Day NYC Coalition believes that a violence-free future needs all of us to join together to support survivors. This requires that we hold ourselves and others accountable and speak out against sexual violence in all its forms. Even though we cannot rally at Foley Square today, we have created a virtual experience to stand in solidarity with survivors of sexual assault and sexual violence. The virtual rally begins here:

Join us on Wednesday, April 29th at 5pm EST / 2pm PST to stand in solidarity with survivors and one another and to support the movement to end rape culture. We will gather virtually to recommit ourselves to this fight during these unprecedented times alongside our community partners on both coasts of the U.S. Our emcees for the rally will be Maya Jupiter and Aloe Blacc.

One of our Coalition members, Maisie from the Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence, is teaching a HIIT workout class today from 12:00 PM - 12:45 PM. The 45-minute workout class is low-impact, challenging, music-based, and a fun way to support our movement! All you need is a mat (if you have one) and water. The class is $10.89 and Maisie is donating the proceeds to Denim Day NYC. Sign up here. If you cannot make it, you can still donate using the link.

In order to proactively work toward a future free of sexual violence, it is important to have conversations with family members and friends to raise awareness of sexual violence. Our Coalition members from STEPS to End Family Violence, Day One, and North Brooklyn Coalition created tips to help initiate these conversations.
