#commUNITYsafety

Denim Day NYC stands as a powerful symbol of solidarity and action in the fight to end sexual violence. For 2025, the #commUNITYsafety theme reinforces the urgent need for collective responsibility in creating safe environments for all. Safety is not just an individual concern—it is a shared commitment that requires communities, organizations, and leaders to stand together against sexual assault and the harmful myths that perpetuate it.

From its roots as a global movement against victim-blaming to a coalition of over 40 organizations, Denim Day NYC continues to unite survivors, advocates, students, and allies in the fight for justice and awareness. By fostering education, accountability, and support, we can build a culture where safety, respect, and consent are the foundation of every community.

Join us for Denim Day NYC 2025 — wear your jeans, raise your voice, and show up in solidarity. Together, we create #commUNITYsafety.

TAKE A STAND AGAINST SEXUAL ASSAULT & VIOLENCE

Denim Day NYC is a coalition of community organizations, elected officials, students, and volunteers united to promote awareness around the issue of sexual assault. Denim Day grew out of a case in which a rape conviction was overturned because the judge reasoned the victim’s tight jeans meant that she had to have helped her assailant remove them, implying consent. People were outraged all over the world and wearing jeans became an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes and myths surrounding sexual assault. Denim Day NYC started in 2010 with a collaborative of three agencies and has grown to more than 40 organizations uniting to promote awareness around the issue of sexual assault.
